I'm excited to reintroduce this week's guest, Jenny Mowbray. She was on the show just a few months ago in December 2021, when we talked about solo travel and adventures when you’re in a committed relationship. As soon as we wrapped up that episode, I knew I wanted Jenny to come back on the show to talk about how to create a portfolio career.
This episode is inspired by one of Jenny’s blog posts: “Freelance, Freedom & Flexibility! Build a Mosaic Portfolio Career and ditch the 9-5 for good!!” In it, she shares her tips on how to move from one main income stream, like a job, to a career that’s made up of various income streams, like freelance gigs and more.
This topic is very timely for me because my business has shifted from managing big, long-term projects to smaller ones, like translating books and writing articles for other websites. It’s definitely been a transition, and it’s required more than a few mindset shifts for me. But I’m learning new things and, most importantly, I’m becoming a better writer as a result.
About Jenny Mowbray
Jenny is a passionate advocate of embarking on solo travel adventures when in a relationship. Having travelled solo when she was single, she was surprised by the curious reaction she received from family and friends when she continued to enjoy solo trips after she met her partner. Such was her fascination that she has begun to write about the topic on her blog Orchids to Olives. Jenny believes wholeheartedly that after overcoming initial barriers that the idea of solo travel sometimes presents, it holds many benefits on both a personal and relationship level and can deepen the connection with ourselves and our loved ones.
