Into the Woods with Holly Worton

May 30, 2022

I'm back again, with another solo episode! I've been asked to comment on this topic a couple of times in recent weeks, so I thought it would be worth exploring this issue a little more. I'm not going to talk about how to stay safe in the outdoors in terms of practical knowledge and skills.

I'm going to address the biggest fear that most people talk to me about when we discuss solo walking and adventures: fear of other people, namely men. I feel like I've been skirting around this topic for years now, focusing more on how to stay safe by learning navigation skills and how to pack the 10 essentials—when really, most women I speak to are simply afraid of other human beings.

In this episode, I talk about how I've overcome some of my fears (and how I'm not totally fearless, even today). I also share my number one top tip for gaining confidence in the outdoors—and elsewhere in life. Can you guess what it is?
